YES OUR LAST HANGOUT WITH NANCY!nancy

It was a shame we had difficulties recording the video as there was something wrong with our internet. However all the answers are kept in our head and we would love to share it with you. The last tips and advice she handed us to end this project with success!

We told her about our problem which was that we had a hand full of information of our solution to chose from and asked how could we cramp all of it in the video. Well the answer was that just make sure you highlight the main points. The layer of the onion. She mentioned that it is also impossible to put in all the details of our solution in the video. So she said it is not mandatory to put in all just fit the most vital points in. And its okay if you leave the rest of your information on your blog or your report. She even said the transition of the video is important! The part where each group connects. She said make sure it has a good transition as in make it clear that the next solution is coming by a different group. And use a enthusiastic voice!

A huge tip she threw to us was to add links of the blog and your report to your video. As the report is a continuation to the video. A more explicit copy. We also ask about the conclusion and she said put in ‘what have you learned’. So please feel free to use these last pieces of advice to form your final video. Good luck!

And finally i would like to give a huge thank you to Nancy for guiding us the entire journey!

THANK YOU NANCY!

Producing our video

This week we have been creating our video to present to our NGO for our final presentation. We started collecting ideas in the previous weeks leading up to this week, so we already had a theme and a plan of action. In our Monday class we sat down with all three groups and decided on the direction of our video; we decided to link our ideas in a creative way which kept the theme consistant throughout. Below is a screen shot of our presentation theme, we chose to link all our ideas using robots. Each idea is assigned to a different robot and the introduction and conclusion will also have one too. The large robot at the end will overlook all 3 ideas and will be our closing statement for our NGO.

In the previous week we created the first draft of our video, which was beneficial in that we encountered problems which we learnt to overcome. For example, the first problem was matching the sound with the image, as Prezi does not allow you to record sound. Therefore we had to figure out a way of recording our Prezi then overlaying our sound, so we used a screen sharing programme which allowed us to flick through our presentation but record it to make it into a youtube video. But then we faced another problem as the quality of the programme wasn’t satisfactory so it produced a video that was lagging and it didn’t look professional. So does anyone know a good screen sharing programme? One thing we did finalise this week is our script; we tried to keep it simple yet informative, and we wanted to only include the main sections of our proposal as we only had a limited amount of time. Below is our first draft of the video, the themes will be completely different but the content and images will be the same, check it out and let us know what you think!

Production Manager

This week we have been looking into different mediums for our video, we have looked at lots of different programmes we could use, from animation programmes to just drawing our ideas and explaining. We have chosen to use a platform called Prezi (https://prezi.com) this site lets you present your ideas in a more visual way, it is a lot like a powerpoint presentation but is a lot more professional. The site lets you insert pictures and videos and also lets you narrate over the top of them, it will also help us tie in the three ideas our groups have in a presentable way. Our groups have three very different ideas so its not going to be an easy task to conclude the video, but we are all focusing on one main thing which is money so we are in the process of writing an introduction and conclusion.

Above you will see our first layout on prezi, each bubble will represent a block on our storyboard and in these bubbles there will be pictures and videos that will help our NGO to understand our idea. This week we have started the script for our final production but because we have limited time so we have to be concise, below is our group introduction.

‘So what exactly are we doing? Well after weeks of researching and brainstorming. we finally developed a simple yet effective and an elegant solution for our NGO to use to conquer their financial problem. So the first thing that tingled in our mind was obviously to support them financially which we think the best way would be crowdsourcing. How could this be done?’

After this will follow a overview of our 3d printing idea.

LOADS OF OPTIONS

Here’s the hangout with Alan:

Here’s the hangout with Nancy:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDxpOQFnSaQ

However, we had some connection issues while talking to Nancy. Thus there’s a part of the video missing. However, there was some really useful advice for those of you who are busy with video production already. How to present your finial ideas and make them clear for others? Nancy offered to use the method from Chinese whispers game. And if you think of it, using the “side listener” is the most convenient way to sharpen the language of your presentation and try to bring your ideas so clear that people who weren’t involved in your work process from the beginning will still understand it. This kind of feedback on the early stage can help you also to reveal problems, weak points or even some mistakes.

Making mistakes is better than faking perfections.

It’s ok to be wrong now and face obstacles along the way. That probably means that you’re moving in the right direction 😉

LOOK AT THIS!

We have researched into 3 different ways we can help Robotica Educativa, these three ways are crowdfunding, crowdsourcing and online social structures. Below we will explain how those strategies could help our NGO.
